The Director of Business Development for the UK Theatre & Permanent Install Market is a senior role with the UK and European Business development team. The position encompasses sales, strategy and mentorship functions to drive brand awareness, revenue, profit and departmental growth both locally and for the Group.

 The role has a focus on (but should not be exclusive to) the UK Theatre / PI submarkets. The position plays a key part in the overall Group strategy, in identifying opportunities for potential new clients and revenue streams. Working with the wider global and regional team you will assist the VP Head of UK & Europe Business Development in creating clear strategies to target, pursue and deliver new sales both regionally and by market.

 Serving as the primary point of contact between our clients and TAIT, you will be responsible for building, maintaining and delivering strong relationships with our customers to meet group objectives. You will advocate on the client’s behalf both internally and through the lifecycle of their project to drive quality and long-term brand advocacy.

 You require knowledge of the Group’s processes, pricing, services and products, to work with your clients and their stakeholders to understand the creative intent and scope guiding them to make the most appropriate decisions.

 As an experienced and senior member of the team you will work with the Business Development managers to achieve the successful conversion of leads and deals, providing oversight, leadership and growth to the team.


  • Build and maintain productive customer relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Maintain engagement throughout the entire lifecycle of a project to ensure success and to achieve 100% client retention.
  • Cement a positive reputation for the business through excellent customer service
  • Understand the problems and challenges of specific clients and then identify ways the business could better address those needs. Feedback this information to TAIT leadership and wider Business Dev teams.
  • Advocate for and follow company process, supporting alignment across locations and teams.
  • Establish relationships with key internal contacts and subject matter experts to help drive deal conversion.
  • Drive team growth through pastoral and oversight leadership to junior members of the team.
  • Actively engage with product seminars, tutorials and training opportunities to ensure an up to date understanding of TAIT products, services and active projects.
  • Mapped to specific clients, it is the responsibility of this role to develop and maintain relationships with the client, owning the relationship from start to finish
  • Responsible for guiding the business to ensure we are providing the correct solution for the scope
  • Responsible for ensuring that projects are priced correctly - understand the client budget and guide pricing discussions with commercial team.
  • Responsible for primary communication with clients regarding progress, issues and overall satisfaction.
  • Responsible for keeping TAIT's CRM updated.
  • Responsible for keeping clients updated on the latest products and services
  • Promote and maintain a positive company image
  • Oversight and mentoring of Business Development Managers
  • Frequent travel around UK, Europe and the Middle East.


Foundation/Position Requirements:

  • 15+ Years of experience in theatre business
  • Experience in a Business Development role is desired, but not a necessity
  • Able to demonstrate track record of building and maintaining relationships
  • Proven history in achieving sales goals is desirable
  • Bachelor’s Degree/Technical Training plus experience in the entertainment industry.
  • Appreciation and/or understanding of engineering.
