The Studio Lead operates a diverse team of designers and engineers to execute all design phases of a project.  The Studio Lead provides Senior Level design and engineering knowledge to their team.  There are essential duties in delegation of work, technical leadership, work planning, and coaching. The Studio Lead must maintain knowledge of industry technology as well as continued focus on developing leadership skills to build high performance teams.  Studio leads must have a highly solution based mentality with a positive approach to all challenges.


Provide design leadership to Senior and Lead Design Engineers in their efforts to execute projects.

  1. Ensure workplans and review schedules are completed for design tasks.
  2. Conduct design reviews of all work completed to ensure quality work.
  3. Manage team workload and communicate schedule to Resource Manager and PMs.

Coaching of the Team

  1. Coach team members on design and engineering skills to develop a strong team.
  2. Provide career development feedback regularly to team members.
  3. Implement new hire onboarding to ensure they are fully trained to become studio members.
  4. Maintain the department culture and standard of work.

Facilitate the design strategy meetings ensure the “Right People in the Room at the Right Time” for the execution of all project.

  1. Project core teams are well informed with information to make best project decisions.
  2. Involve departments in decision making to guide the best decisions for the project.
  3. Work with all subject matter experts early in the project to provide the most direct path to a solution.

Awareness of project schedules and challenges to create the right solution.

  1. Communication and schedule coordination with project manager.
  2. Understand all project processes.
  3. Identify process technical roadblocks and coordination solutions.
