Overview:

 

The primary role of the Estimator is to assist the organization with various estimating tasks, ranging from an entire project down to an individual part. Also, to provide accurate historical cost data and reports to the organization to help manage staff, evaluate future elements and predict final project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively and efficiently with all members of the Estimating team
  • Lead the preparation of realistic estimates to support development and the management of projects
  • Gain buy in from all disciplines that they can deliver against the prepared budget
  • Supportive team player, calm and level headed
  • Interface closely with Project Management, Project Design, Studio Design, Finance and Production Control on estimates, production estimates, etc.
  • Build a database of past project costs and forecasting tools to inform future bids
  • Support other project tasks as assigned, for example Cost to Complete (CTC)
  • Engage Fabrication, Machine and Integration in the estimating process when applicable
  • Navigate Epicor to pull various data for estimation comparisons and TAIT personnel
  • Walk the Fabrication floor regularly to watch progress and learn habits and patterns of various elements during production
  • Ability to sensibly produce estimates with appropriate fidelity depending on the requirement and the time available (WAG, SWAG, ROM, Budget Estimate)
  • Adaptability and flexibility collating and presenting data dependent on bid requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field OR 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 0-4 years of experience in controls, construction, estimation, bidding or proposal building
  • Experience with ERP software (I.E. Epicor)
  • Strong proficiency with numbers and mathematics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and detail-oriented environment
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of products
