    The primary role of the Materials Handler is to ensure materials are presented to the projects that are live on the shop floor in an orderly fashion, this is key to the technicians building projects to be more efficient. The Material Handler will also identify any shortages in the kit and work with the Lead buyer to drive these parts into the kit. You will be working under general supervision on a wide range of assignments that require a substantial knowledge stock control systems.


    Core Responsibility: 

    The Materials Handler has a thorough knowledge of the basic processes and procedures of “stock control”, and “line side availability”, and is also expected to use sound judgment in resolving issues or recommending solutions.


    The ability to maintain records and update ERP/MRP systems for material availability is key.


    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

    • To organise and collate parts for various projects in preparation for building and assembly.
    • Presenting all parts in an orderly fashion for each project, identify any shortages and expedite into the job.
    • To create/develop two bin Kanban systems for fast moving low cost items.
    • Play a key role in the development of systems to ensure reduced stock outs.
    • To assist with ad-hoc tasks in the workshop as instructed by Department Managers.

    Person Specification: 




    Educational Attainment

    Organisational skills are key to this role, strong experience of stock control systems, working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.

    Previous stock control experience, good working knowledge of windows outlook, word and excel.

    Knowledge Required

    Ability to interpret bill of materials, and PO orders.

    Knowledge of manufacturing principles, possibly in the electrical or electronics industry.

    Experience of working in the stage and/or spectaculars industry;

    Experience Required

    Experience in a practical / workshop / materials handler role, ideally in a be-spoke manufacturing product environment with a bias to electrical/electronic products.

    Knowledge of manufacturing principles and specifications to support electrical panel wiring.

    General Intelligence

    A good all-round general education. Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and computer based.

    Ability to think logically and strong willingness to work on own initiative.
