  • Overview

    The Controls Designer is to provide control systems which meet or exceed client specifications while providing maximum value for our permanent install theme park and theatre clients.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform engineering analyses of electrical loads, component layout, and functional safety of the control system independently or with the lead.
    • Perform optimization and value engineering reviews of both existing and new equipment for improvements in manufacturing cost and efficiency. This includes the research and specification of components from industry manufacturers for electrical designs.
    • Prepare bills of materials for finished electrical assemblies and assist in the procurement of outside vendor parts and services.
    • Central responsibility in the creation of finished electrical assembly and fabrication drawings, contribution to O&M manuals, and final client submittal packages.
    • Expand our application of emerging technologies for the purpose of designing and producing leading edge controls technology.
    • Leading an accurate design process, per assignment, including complete design reviews, design for manufacturability, resource capacity concerns and design capabilities
    • Improve design engineering capabilities by consistently following standard design practices, creating a design roadmap for each assignment
    • Communicates design strategies and daily workflow with design team through daily/weekly meetings
    • Communicates design project priorities, resource requirements and manages adjustments, as needed

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Technical Theater degree with emphasis in electrical design
    • 1-3 years of applicable experience preferred
    • Proficient in the use of 3D modeling software (Inventor or Solidworks for example)
    • Ability to use basic CAD skills and apply them in use of E-Plan, the Tait standard for electrical drawing software
    • Knowledge of electromechanical, fluid power, and control system concepts
    • Must be able to handle a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and critical deadlines
    • Ability to work with various members of a team and communicate effectively at all levels
    • Strong, independent problem-solving skills
    • Understand the field of entertainment/theme parks and grow/learn to serve that market
    • Able to work within global codes and regulations
    • Ability to multi-task and handle heavy workloads
