    The Role:


    The Senior Project Manager role is based out of either our NW London or Haverhill (just outside of Cambridge) site.  It is a key position within the Projects PI (Permanent Installations) team, which acts as the external face, and internal hub for project delivery by the UK business. Typical projects are between £150,000 and £15,000,000 in value and may be delivered anywhere around the globe.


    As well as acting as fulfilling the Project Manager role on particular projects, the Senior Project Manager role includes responsibility for managing, leading and developing a sub-team team of project managers and project engineers, and working with the Director of Projects to grow that team. Responsibility also includes ensuring that, for projects delivered by that team, all project budgets are accurate and reviewed regularly and that projects are delivered to time and within budget.


    The key objectives of this role are to: 


    • Work with the Director of Projects to ensure that all projects run directly by the Senior Project Manager, or by his/her sub-team, are project managed and executed in a timely, cost efficient and professional manner;
    • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide seamless client service; and
    • Coach and mentor the Projects sub-team, to be highly effective in their roles. Identify training and skills gaps and proactively work towards developing the team through on the job training and external training.

     The key job responsibilities are as follows:


    • Prepare a strategic plan of how each individual project is to be executed by working with the assigned project manager, business development team and internal heads of departments to assign project teams covering all relevant discipline – mechanical design, electrical design, control system design, manufacturing, on site delivery and commissioning. Leading those project teams to agree solutions, timeframes and budgets;
    • Manage clients to agree clear scope, schedule and contract, and manage to the project to that contract, negotiating changes and variations where applicable, with the support of the Director of Projects and Contracts Manager;
    • Verify that the project has been budgeted correctly and do any necessary follow up for own projects and direct other project managers to do so independently if there are any discrepancies in costing with the relevant sales and directors.
    • Revise costs in line with client request for changes and communicate changes to effected parties internally and externally;
    • Regular contact with site to ensure that work is managed and progressed safely and according to plan and to act on feedback from site and trouble shoot any issues;
    • Visit to site and check progress as and when required;
    • Manage project cashflow ensuring purchasing is managed to limit cash outflow and income is realised as fast as possible; and
    • Follow existing business processes & contribute to refining them.
