    Intellectual Property/Patent Attorney

    Reports to the General Counsel





    We are seeking an Intellectual Property/Patent Attorney for patent prosecution and intellectual property transactional work and all aspects of company intellectual property protection.  The Intellectual Property/Patent Attorney will be responsible for patent prosecution and IP protection in a cutting edge company designing state of the art rigging, automation and controls for the rock and roll touring industry, as well as permanent stage productions for theme parks and theater productions, including meeting with inventors and leading patent strategy.


    Role and Responsibilities 

    • With General Counsel, direct the company's patent, copyright, trademark, domain and other IP legal work
    • Obtain and review invention disclosures from engineering; determine patentability; follow-up with eventual filing and prosecution of patent application(s)
    • Prepare, file and prosecute U.S. patent and trademark applications
    • Direct preparation and prosecution of foreign patent, design registrations and trademark applications
    • Conduct IP related diligence on companies and/or third party patent portfolios
    • Keep informed on important technologies and develop strategic patent applications
    • Conduct patent searches to identify competitor areas of interest and patents related to Tait Towers products
    • Conduct patent clearance analysis
    • Support outside litigation counsel throughout the litigation process; including preliminary infringement analysis, detailed claim charts, claim interpretation, document production, etc.
    • Manage, organize, track and provide regular reporting on the entire Tait Towers IP portfolio
    • Develop decision making process and strategies regarding patenting, trade secrets, defensive publications, etc.
    • Identify issues regarding right of publicity or need to obtain permission to use licenses or images of a person
    • Advise on tradename/trademark use and registration
    • Review and draft contractual language related to IP protection



    • Juris Doctorate
    • Bachelor’s Degree, Engineering
    • Ability to draft and prosecute patent applications, including strong, broad claims that will hold up in litigation
    • Understanding of differences between domestic and foreign patent and design law in leading foreign jurisdictions such as Canada, Europe, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Australia etc.
    • Minimum of 5 years law firm and/or in-house experience, with particular experience preparing and prosecuting both domestic and foreign patent and trademark applications
    • Registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office
    • Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania
    • Work Schedule: 15-20 hours/week
